Around here, two or three different people have gotten infected with Daxos fever. There’s multiple Daxos of Meletis commander decks kicking around, and he’s a fun card to play with. He can’t be blocked by bigger creatures, so unless your opponent has chumps to throw his way he’ll get through unimpeded. Once he does, you get to exile the top card of their library, gain some life potentially, and gain the ability to cast whatever you hit that turn. The best part? Daxos lets you spend your mana as though it was some kind of crazy rainbow mana, meaning color is no restriction! You want to cast their Doom Blade using your decidedly non-black deck? You can! You want to use Magma Jet to clear away a tapped creature that could block Daxos next turn, despite having no red mana? Do it, and scry for your trouble!
However, one thing Daxos-to-the-Maxos cannot steal from your opponent is land. Daxos’ ability specifically uses the word ‘cast’, meaning you can’t use their lands. You don’t cast lands, you cast spells! Compare with the wording on Nightveil Specter, which says you may ‘play’ the exiled cards. What that means is “You can play the lands (using your land drop for your turn), or cast the spells”. If the wording says ‘cast’ instead of ‘play’, as Daxos does, the lands are off-limits to you completely.
