The final two official shortcuts are..
– In a 2HG game, a creature that’s attacking a team and not one of their planeswalkers is assigns its combat damage to the primary player on the defending team, unless its controller states otherwise.
For example, if an unblocked creature you control is equipped with Sword of Feast and Famine in a 2HG game, the primary player on the defending team will discard a card when the Sword’s trigger resolves, unless you choose to assign the damage to the other player instead.
– A player is assumed to have paid any cost of 0 unless he or she says otherwise.
For example, if you cast Shah of Naar Isle on your last turn and don’t want to pay its echo during your upkeep, you need to say so, otherwise its echo cost will be paid and your opponents will have the option to draw some cards.
These are just the codified shortcuts, of course. You’re free to propose any shortcut you like, as long as you’re clear on where the game state will be ending up. If your opponent agrees, then you can use that shortcut.
One common unofficial shortcut is resolving multiple searches simultaneously, For example, if I want to play Marsh Flats as my second land of the game, crack it to fetch a Plains, then use that plains to play a Stoneforge Mystic, I can announce my intentions, and if you have no responses to cracking the fetch, casting the Mystic, or its trigger, I can search out both the Plains and the Equipment for the Mystic’s trigger simultaneously to save time.
