Many Magic tournaments distribute slips of paper for players to fill out the results of their matches. These slips are about 1/4 of a sheet of paper, have information like your name, your opponent’s names, DCI numbers, what round it is and spaces for the two players to fill in their results, indicate whether they want to drop and to sign the slip. Here are two quick tips regarding what to do when filling them out.
The first is that you should not write anything on the slips other than the match results. Do not use the back of the slip to keep track of life totals. Judging staff use that space to write notes regarding the match and to record what penalties were given in the match.
Also, when filling out a match result slip, please try to write as legibly as possible. Make sure that your numbers look like they are supposed to. (I know of at least one instance where a ‘1’ looked like a zero and was recorded as such.) If you realize that there is an error, bring it to the attention of the tournament operations staff as soon as possible.
