Hydra Broodmaster is quite a cool card. It has quite an interesting ability. For the low cost of XXG it can become monstrous. The real kicker is the second part of its monstrous ability.
When Hydra Broodmaster becomes monstrous, it looks to see how much mana was paid for each X. It then puts that many X/X Hydras on to the battlefield. Do note that you get no Hydras at all if your opponent kills Broodmaster in response to your Monstrosity ability! If they do allow that to respond, and then Doom Blade the Hydra with the “make some hydra babies” trigger on the stack, though, you’ll still get X hydras.
As an Example
(1)(1)G will make 1 1/1 Hydra
(2)(2)G will make 2 2/2 Hydras
(3)(3)G will make 3 3/3 Hydras
(4)(4)G will make 4 4/4 Hydras
And so forth. Make sure that when you play your hydra, you pay close attention to how much mana you pay for X. Hopefully, you can bite off more than your opponent can chew.
