Welcome back to Prerelease Week! Today we’re tackling one of the last two mechanics in the set: Support. Support is actually really simple; some spells will have Support N, as will some creatures. On a spell, “Support N” means “Put a +1/+1 counter on up to each of N target creatures”, when the spell resolves. So if a spell has Support 2, then you’ll put a single +1/+1 counter on up to two target creatures as it resolves. For creatures, Support is an enters-the-battlefield trigger, and the creatures can’t Support themselves! It’s important to note that you put the counters on UP TO that many creatures, so you can use a Support spell if you don’t have quite enough creatures to buff! Another neat thing: Support works amazingly in 2HG, because it doesn’t say “creatures YOU CONTROL”. If you and your teammate have a total of 6 creatures and you Support 6, you can buff your teammate’s creatures as well as your own! Keep that in mind when you’re handing out the Support.
