You don’t have to sacrifice a creature when you copy Fling

Ah, good old Fling. The most common question I hear about Fling is the one I’m answering now, and it always gets worse when Fling is around with good ways to copy stuff. Nivix Guildmage provides a repeatable source of spell-copying, and also a repeatable souce of Fling questions.

No, you do not have to sacrifice more creatures when you copy Fling, just like you don’t have to pay 1R when you throw the copy down. The copy is created directly on the stack, not cast; you aren’t paying for the spell in any stripe, beyond the cost of the copying effect itself, so you definitely aren’t paying the additional cost of ‘sacrifice a creature’. The copy remembers what the original Fling flung, so the copy will hit just as hard as the original. If you sacrificed a 4/1 Frostburn Weird and copied the Fling, the copy will also deal 4 damage.
