Quirion Dryad Triggers Once Per Spell

Quirion Dryad was an old favorite card of one of my friends, so I’m used to dealing with it. But now that it’s Standard-legal again, and with all the 3 color decks kicking around, it’s seeing some play. So I’m gonna clear up a couple of little flubs that pop up around it!

First one is in the blog title here: it only triggers once per spell. It doesn’t have 4 different triggers, one per color. Whenever you cast a white, blue, black, or red spell, the Dryad will trigger exactly once, and get one counter. It doesn’t matter if you cast Murder, Soul Ransom, or Conflux, it’ll trigger the dryad ONCE, not once per color it is.

Second common mistake I see: Dryad triggers off of white, blue, black, or red spells. While this sounds similar to ‘nongreen’, it isn’t. A second Dryad won’t trigger the one you have on board, for example, but an Unexpected Results WILL, because it’s a blue spell. The fact that it’s also green doesn’t matter.
