Unless an effect specifically gives a land a color, lands are colorless. This is true regardless of what colors of mana a land can generate and even if a land has an additional ability that affects creatures or a specific color or if it generates an effect that just ‘seems’ like it should be a certain color.
For example, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle is a land and therefore colorless. It has a triggered ability that triggers when Mountains enter the battlefield under your control if you control five other Mountains and this ability deals three points of damage. However, as mentioned above, Valakut is colorless, it is not red. This means that you can target a creature with Protection from Red, like Kor Firewalker, and this ability will deal three points of damage to the Firewalker.
