Bioshift onto Corpsejack Menace.

You may remember from a few weeks ago that Corpsejack Menace doubles all +1/+1 counters that would be placed on a creature. Let’s return to the lab where we left off, with a Menace on the battlefield alongside a Cloudfin Raptor with four +1/+1 counters on it.

What happens if we now cast Bioshift, moving the counters from the Raptor to the Menace?

This is another instance of the wording of a card not being precisely what it appears! A closer look at the rules reveals that the act of “moving” a counter involves two simultaneous components: removing the counter from the first creature, and putting the counter onto the second creature. Because “putting” counts as “placing,” Corpsejack Menace’s ability will apply to the counters being moved onto it via Bioshift. The result? A grand total of eight +1/+1 counters, for a hefty 12/12 creature!
