NOT going infinite: Greenbelt Rampager

Greenbelt Rampager is the Rogue Elephant I always wanted as a kid but never had. It is a house of a creature for one mana, with one slight drawback. You can’t keep it on the field unless you can pay the cost of two energy. There is another semi-drawback as well – if you have 2 energy, you have to pay the cost when it enters. There is no “may” so you cannot keep casting it and returning it to net energy by itself. If you wanted to do something like that, you would need an outlet to use the two energy before you cast Rampager again.

If you wanted to go infinite, you would need a substantial set-up like Paradox Engine, Longtusk Cub, Druid of the Cowl and Greenbelt Rampager. You would then need one or less energy in your pool (easily done with a Longtusk present) and would need to do this: Tap Druid for a green mana and cast Rampager, triggering Engine, untaping Cowl, resolve and return Rampager, add one energy, cast Rampager, trigger Engine, untap Cowl, return Rampager adding second energy, use 2 energy to add a counter to Longtusk. Repeat until Longtusk is infinite in power and toughness.

It takes 4 cards and a lot of luck to get this one off, but it is possible, even if unlikely. I think you will get more enjoyment from casting Attune with Aether on turn one and casting Rampager on turn two for much value. Hope you enjoyed Infinite week! See you next time!
